Portugal

I had dogs all my life at my family’s house. German Shepherds were my father’s choice. At 17 I found a breed I didn’t know in Portugal and I dreamed for – the Bernese Mountain Dog. Retired from my work in 1993, I began this adventure – to breed, to show, and more than that, to select the best I could do, BMD, under “Casa dos Herdeiros do Lobo” affix, and the Newfoundland with my husband, under “Atwater”. In 2002 I became judge. Nowadays I judge FCI Groups 1, 2, 4, some of the 10 and all de Portuguese Breeds. I am a trainer of Judges for the breeds Newfoundland Dog and Bernese Mountain Dog. I’ve been involved in several technical dog matters such as lectures in vet schools, co-writer of The Portuguese Dog Breeds Standards book, etc. I’ve judged memorable specialties mostly of my breeds in several countries, and also some important FCI dog shows in Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Spain, Gibraltar, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Switzerland, Italy, San Marino, Greece, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia and of course Portugal. And also The Parade of Portugal, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, a very peculiar event. I would refer the BIS of the WDS 2001 in Porto with my dog (bred my husband) the newfoundland “ATWATER CRAZY DIAMOND BORGOLEONARDO” and the year after in Paris the RBIS in the EDS with the same dog. At last I am very proud about the important tittles of championships obtained by many of my dogs all over the world and also for their positive progeny.
